SELLING rem 700 long action

I have REM 700 long action standard bolt face that I'm looking to sell. This was for a 25-06 build, but I ended up buying a 25-06 barreled action and no longer need this. This stainless receiver and jeweled bolt were bought on gun Broker, they were rem factory old stock, never fired. Complete firing pin assembly, bolt ejector and bottom bolt release (not installed) were purchased brand new from Gre Tan Rifles 3 weeks ago. I have additional pictures if need, send me a message with any questions. $525 shipped to your FFL who accepts shipments from an individual.

Do you know of a way to test to see? I’m know metallurgist, Something like that’s above my pay grade

If you have another rem 700 action you could stick a magnet to both and see if theirs a difference. Pretty sure rem made the stainless actions out of 416 which is still magnetic but not as strong as attraction at the steel action would be.

If it has the same “pull” as your other stainless action it’s probably stainless but would be nice to try against a steel action to really tell the difference.

Blow up the first picture. You can clearly see it is SS. The bolt is CM. You can see the bolt handle is blued/blackened and the bolt shroud is blued/blackened as well.

I bought the action thinking it was stainless. That’s what the gun Broker listing that I bought said. someone told me a magnet would not stick to it if it was stainless. A magnet did stick to this action, so I’m assumimg it’s not stainless.

It’s a stainless action. Flip it over and look at the underside of the tang behind the rear action screw, there will be a groove machined perpendicular to the bore axis. All stainless Remington actions have it (and not all stainless actions start with an “S” prefix.) It’s visible in OP’s first picture.

Agreed. It's just a polished stainless rather than brushed.
