Rem 700 7.62x39

What needs done to 700 s.a. to make a 7.62x39?

Does anyone make a bolt for that?

Is there anything else after you find the right bolt/bolt face?

Why bother? If you really feel the need for an underpowered cartridge with .310 dia. bullets go get a Howa Mini action. All the work already done and a removable mag, for less money than messing up a Remington. Mine (6.5 Grendel) shoots fine.

A 30br is an easier conversion and can be had in a no turn chamber. You will have a cartridge that shoots .308" projectiles and will be everything you wished the 7.62x39 could be.

Or Ruger American. Savage is easy as well. I went for an ar15 upper setup for 7.62x39. Threaded barrel, side charger. I need to get a select able gas block and I'll be set.

The PPC rim is .441 and the 7.62x39 is .449 so a ppc bolt should work. Are you looking for a SS or a repeater? I have a coned bolt.

PTG can provide a bolt. Getting one to feed from the Rem box magazine is where angels fear to tread, and will cause you grey hairs and sleepless nights. Been there, done that. Rem did offer a 700 in 6.8 SPC and that will be the closest with regards to side pressure in the magazine, follower and feed lip geometry, and release points. Bolt head diameter is a bit small(.422 ish).
JGS 7.62 X 39 Lapua reamer is a winner. (JGS Print # 3514) Forget the CIP chamber, thats for AK's. Will work great with .308 barrels with cast bullets and Sierra 135 MK's, while digesting .310 ball with no issues.
Check the Cast Bullet Associations forum for Ed Harris' write ups on this reamer. He is one of the few gun writers that when he talks, we listen.

The Ruger American in 7.62x39mm is my favorite running around teh farm/spread rifle. decent accuracy, built like a tank and inexpensive. mine feeds great, even with the high cap mags and is a fun, and cheap, gun to shoot. I run russian ammo through it and it just gobbles it up.
