Rem. 700 / 6BR mag feed

Have noticed that other than length the 6BR is pretty similar in case dimension to my .243 Ackley . The Ackley feeds quite well from the magazine in my Rem. 700 . How about the 6BR if I rebarrel ?

I have tried to get the br to feed in two different 700's. Have been using the 107smk's and have been pretty unsuccessful so far. I used a .308 magazine box with the follower cut down to .222 length and a .222 length spring as Mike Bryant suggests. The point of the bullets hit the flat inside the counter bore of the chamber preventing the loading round from chambering. I'm sure if can be done but so far I have missed the proper combination!!

I've been doing some research on that myself. I'm starting with a Remington receiver with a MAK tube kit. it uses Accuracy International magazines. from what i have gathered it does function fine with he 6BR. i still don't know if it will feed reliably with a 40 degree shoulder. i would like to use some sort of improved 6BR in it like the Dasher.

Blaster4. I can assure you that a lot of people are standing on there tip toes after reading your statement about it functioning fine with 6BR. I know nothing about "Mak" tube kit or "Accuracy international Mag kits". If these modifications work could you please expound, to your hearts content.

here is part of an email that I got from Kevin McDonald of MAK.

"
the ejector has to be relieved a little more in the notch so that it is basically flush with the front of the bolt. If the ejector is not modified some times the case spins around and stays in the loading port. The extended ejector keeps pressure on the case long enough to resolve this."

He is currently using one in 6BR now as is two other gentlemen. doesn't seem like it needs a lot of work to get it running.

gents, if you guys have info to the contrary, that you can't get a 6BR to feed from a AI mag into a rem bolt action please tell me. i'm a payheck away form ordering a barrel and a reamer. i'm not trying to blow smoke here i was just passing info that i believed was good. blaster4

John Sylvester is using a 6BR in a Tubb 2K. that is detachable magazine as well. i guess where there is a will...............

Sounds like I need to play with a mag before I rush out and chamber a barrel in 6BR . AI are in the hands of receivers I believe ?

Aussie, I to have been looking and investigating as much as you can do on the subject of getting a Rem action to feed the 6mm BR reliably. There have been a couple of gunsmiths who supposedly have the answer, but I have "Not" found anyone that will answer whether it works or not. From that, I have to assume it doesn't, are they would be more than willing to answer these type of inquires!
Hard to imagine someone turning down business these days. Maybe one of the gunsmiths who review these articles can take time to advise whether it is feasible or just not possible! That way we could just put the question to rest, one way or another.
But, I guess there is always the chance that no gunsmith's review questions on the number one forum relative to the 6mm caliber.

i believe AI has been saved by some of the employees. http://www.accuracyinternational.com/ they will be back open soon. which is good because i need some of those damn mags. lol.

Yes the 6mm br will feed in a rem 700 if you use the mags from the aics kit.
I am told that badger ordonnance is making a floorplate that will hold the mags so that is another option if you don't want to use the aics kit stock.check out the article i wrote gun off the week tactical 6 br

Max length with the 105 scenar i Have used is 60.74 MM but i think you can make them longer. The room is there for sure. When you load with the shorter bullets,70-87 gr) feeding is also very good

I tried going there but the site was under construction. Do you have any idea when things will be up and going?
My reason for asking is I have waited for some sites/other so long that I gave up! Meaning, it was situation that had little chance of becoming reality! Are these products a reality?
