What is your experience with the Rem 700 5-R Milspec barrel? I believe it's a 11.25 twist as well.

Just looking for opinions and maybe recommendations.

An acquaintance at my NFA shop that I go to swears by them and it is the only 700s they will stock. He will also give you really good trade for pulled barrels. I have personally never used a 5R barrel and probably won't ever need to get another 308 barrel as I dont shoot supper high volume out of my 308's

I had one a few years ago. Shot 700 rounds through it before selling It would never shoot better than .5 MOA at 100 yards. If that accuracy makes you happy, you might like them. I don't.

If you really want a 5R barrel, get a Bartlein or Obermeyer matched to a good action. Now you'll have something that shoots.

I've got one and have had it a couple of years now. I've got the same opinion as Charlie Watson. It also would not any better than .5 MOA at 100 yds. I re-barreled it with a Shillin short chambered barrel from Midway USA. It shoots a little better.
I plan on truing the Action and using a Bartlein 308 1-10 5r. I am going to chamber it with a 308 win 332 neck. With turned necks and hand loads it should finally shoot.
