There was the Rem 700 PS which was "Police Special" and was a parkerized finish, H-S Precision stock, and 24" barrel. They made them from the 90s to the early 2000s until it was replaced with the 700P or "Police" which was a 26" barrel with a similar H-S Precision stock. Originally, they had the Walker trigger, but newer models have the old 40X trigger.

The 700 SPS-Varmint is the "Special Purpose Synthetic" which is a matte blue finish and came in a plastic stock and were also originally the Walker trigger, but replaced with the X-Mark and X-Mark Pro triggers as time went on. This was the "budget" line.
