Rem. 600 vs. 700 Action

Does the Rem. 600 action have any advantages over the 700? Thinking of buying a Mod. 600 for a 6 x 47L build for benchrest use.
I'm told that mod. 700 triggers fit. Also that it is the same as the Mod.7.
Any actual experience out there for benchrest work?

What is your idea of "benchrest"? Registered Competition?, a bench gun for informal club shoots?, or just an accurate rifle to tinker with? The 600's brother, the XP-100, was responsible for a lot of wins in the early days of BR, but it was a single shot which had less flex than the 600 repeater. The model 7 is a completely different design than the 600.

Mr. Smith, the design is the same. The 600 has a shorter rear tang. It keeps you from using a 700 or Mod 7 trigger or say a Jewell, Kelbly, or Shilen. The trigger will fit, but you can't put the rear receiver screw in.

The 600 bolt release is different than on a 700 and the bolt handle has a dog leg in it.Neither of those are issues at all.
It can be built just as well as a 700 can so make your decision based on that.
Everybody including Rifle Basix will tell you the triggers are the same and they are not.Yes they are interchangeable and will work without a hitch but the shoe is farther forward on a 600 trigger than it is on a 700 trigger.
If your building a gun from scratch with a new stock the 2 ounce Rifle Basix or Jewell will work just fine.
If you already have a inletted stock the trigger shoe from a 700 trigger will be very close to the pistol grip area.
You get used to it after awhile but it is definitely different.
How do I know this because I bought all the remaining original 600 triggers from Rifle Basix when he obsoleted them from his line.
