Rem 40x with standard bolt for 6mm ppc

Want to build a 6mm ppc repeater
I have 2 barrels with rem 700 threads. I can get a 40x with a mack brothers bolt, for a reasonable price. Do you think this would extract the cases ok. Is there better options that aren't too expensive. Was thinking of using acis mags

Howdy !

For clarity....what rim size is the Mackbros' bolt face set-up for ? That rim is around .473" diam.

If the bolt you mentioned is for a standard .308Win rim diam, then I'd say it wouldn't work for a 6PPC case.

I realize the difference in bolt faces, I've read that some will pull the ppc cases ok. Just wondering if anyone has done this. Not going to be a competition gun. Just for fun.

I have seen the same from credible posters that it will extract. Don't know if it will eject and I would think that RELIABLY feeding from the magazine would be an issue. Maybe worth a try if a single shot meets your needs.
PS: I have a 22-250 Ruger 77(tang safety) that was rebarreled to 6PPC. Obviously totally different extractor than a 700 but it extracts OK but the fired case falls from the bolt face before it ejects. Does not feed reliably from the magazine. Bottom line, functions just fine as a single shot and shoots in the high 0.2's to the low 0.3's @ 100 yds.

Yeah I wasn't sure about the magazine. That was something I wanted to try. If it doesn't work I will probably rechamber to 6br.

Thanks for that. Now I understand why it might not eject.
