Rem 1100 gas ring?

My friend has a newer Rem 1100 Competition model with the new type of gas ring. When he takes the barrel off the gas ring is stuck in the ring that's attached to the barrel. It only shoots a few shots before it fails to cycle. I sent him a video to make sure he has the ring and the o ring mounted correctly.

I have an older 1100 and I've never had this happen, anybody have any ideas? His shotgun does not have a lot of rounds through it.

Cleanliness and dry lube (colloidal graphite) are likely to help.

Not a dirty gun, very clean although I'll have check on how he lubed it. He lives elsewhere so I didn't see it myself.

I'll have him check but it's supposed to be in like new condition and the ring slides onto the magazine tube with no problems.

I had a new 11-87 barrel that had the ring welded on cattywampus. One shooter that tore my brain apart till I laid the barrel down and noted the slight offset.

Not common, but possible.

Sounds like a bad ring. Get a new one and use the colloidal grease
