Reloder 16 in 6.5 Creedmoor

Anyone experimented with Reloder 16 in 6.5 creedmoor? Heard it produces higher velocities than h4350.
How is it in terms of temp stability and SD in comparison with H4350?
iam running 136 gr scenars with lapua cases and cci br4 with COAL 2.850 in tikka t3x tac a1 with 1 in 8 twist barrel.
Any starting point for load development? or accuracy nodes that you have been experiencing with reloder 16

Thank you for your input

It's a very good powder, good velocity. Another good 1 to think about is RL-26, what I switched to from RL-16.

6.5 Creedmoor
130gn Berger VLD
43gn Reloder 16
2920 fps
100 yd groups from 1's to 4's.
6 reloads with Hornady brass. Primers still as tight as 2nd loading.
Nothing ever over .5 MOA during load work. Temp insensitive in AZ summer to winter.

Very impressive speed, no pressure signs? whats COAL for this load?

Here is 4 135 Berger classic hunters with 42 grains r 16 at 500 yards. Load shoots mid 2800 s, there was another higher node, but this shoot so good I stopped

H4350 is an outstanding powder. So is Reloder 16. If I lived in an area with high temps I would probably favor RL16. It is very temp stable -- particularly at the high end. I have seen Alliant temp-test data charts which have never been released to the general public.

Thanks for the comment, would you say that rl16 produces higher velocities than h4350? Iam starting to see pressure signs at around 2775 with h4340

I tried RL 16 after being unable to find any H4350 & not getting very good performance from some other powders. At the time load data was scarce for it as it was fairly new, but I found some start points from some reviews on line. Couldn't be happier with the results. Gave me excellent accuracy with published velocity with 140 grain ELD-X bullets. I use Lapua brass with small Rifle primers & don't see excess pressure signs @ 41 grains in my Shilen barreled rifle giving just under 2800 FPS. 42 grains only gained me 50 FPS, so I settled on 41 grains in hopes of extending brass life. Groups are sub MOA. It's my Creedmoor powder for sure!! I would set 42 grains as a max load to work up to, carefully, & see how your rifle responds. Good Luck!!

Is anybody else finding RL16 to be extremely dirty? With IMR4350 only my first patch comes out completely black, with RL16 the first 4 patches are black.

Unless the barrel is dirty enough to affect accuracy, don't worry about it. I don't get why so many people are concerned about some carbon in the barrel. If accuracy starts to fluctuate, then clean it. There are more important things to worry about. If the powder works, then who cares about some soot in the barrel. Barrel makers love people who obsess over cleaning barrels.

I asked a simple question that required nothing more than a simple answer. I don't care what your thoughts are on cleaning barrels.
