Reloading supply that deosn't gouge on shipping?

Who do you guys use if you only need one or two small items? I need a neck bushing and Natchez wants 14.97 to ship! Is there anyone who uses actual shipping? It shouldn't be more than 3-4 dollars.

You sure bring up a good point that I never see talked about. Natchez has lost most all of my business because of their huge shipping charges. Midway and Midsouth are a little less but still steep. It's unreal how much profit can be made just shipping things and charging much more than it really costs.

It's good for the business IF they sell and rough on the customer IF they buy. An informed buyer is a good thing.

Cabelas is limited to what they offer, but most stuff is available thru them. If you google it sometimes you can find free shipping codes and % off coupons.

Sinclair has shipped small items for me, like neck bushings, by parcel post for a minimal charge. As long as it meets the first class weight limit they will ship, if you request it.

I had an issue with Midsouth yesterday. I ordered two 100 count boxes of .224 bullets. They charged me $7.35 shipping via FEDEX. They claim to use the cheapest method shipping. I wanted them to put the order in a small USPS $5 priority box, but they claim there would be an added charge of $2.50 for "insurance" by the PO. I told the supervisor I did not want insurance; she said they require it. I did order the bullets anyhow. Upon receipt, I will take those two boxes of bullets to the PO in a small Priority box and ask the charge for shipping with and without insurance to Clarksville, TN. Will report back.

Midway, Midsouth and Natchez seem to be declining in the service aspect of things.

I have observed that Sinclairs & Brownells appear to have gotten better on shipping than they had been at one time, may not always be the best though.

Precision Shooters out of South Dakota has also gotten better.

Thanks to the posters above for heads up on Gunstop and Third Generation. It's always good to learn about additional options for comparisons to find the best deal.

Bruno's has great prices, but shipping is expensive. I paid a 3 dollar handling charge and 12+ dollars shipping on an item that would fit 10 X over in a $5.00 USPS flat rate box. Personally, I don't mind the $3.00 handling charge, as I realize there is a packaging and labor expense involved in the process. Sure wish they would consider shipping alternatives though. I order some items from McMaster-Carr and get them the very next day at reasonable (by today's standards) rates.

I ordered some dies and brass from Grafs the other day for an upcoming project and it was 14.00 dollars cheaper for the products alone vs. midway plus their shipping was only $5.95. Midway would surely have charged 10 to 15 for shipping.

Sometimes it does seem outrageous... especially when HAZMAT is involved. Where I live in VA, with 5% sales tax, gas at $3.50/gal. and no store that sells reloading supplies very close, it's worth it for the cost and convenience.

Regarding HAZMAT, unless they've changed their ways, NEVER order a mix of powders and primers from Midway USA. Those two items ship from different locations and the HAZMAT fee is applied to both. Most other places, Cabela's for sure, charge $25.00 per ORDER... big or small. The secret here is to overbuy to make the HAZMAT fee a smaller percentage of the overall order. Properly stored, primers and powder are good for a long, long time.

Hope this helps.

I happened to be passing through Columbia, MO. last winter. I called Midway in hopes of picking up some powder on my way through. The deal is that zoning rules do not allow them to carry powder at that facility. All powder is shipped directly from the manufacturer. I was told they could not stock powder that close to the Interstate Highway. I don't know if it was local, state, or federal regulation.
