Reloading Superformance ammo brass

I had my first dealings with reloading Hornady Superformance brass, found it had crimped primers and the Hornady brass is marked "Match". Luckily I had the tools to deal with the crimped primers. My question is with the Hornady "Match" brass, do I need to treat it any differently than regular brass or do I use reduced loads like Military "Match" brass ? It may be a simple question but it's a mistake I don't want to make. Thanks, Paul :o

Well,I wouldnt start out with the top load and as always work up.But I seriously doubt it is any different than the boxed brass we buy except for the crimped primer.

Thanks, I never start with max. loads (temped to joke about max. + 5 gr. but somebody might take me seriously). When I started loading 30+ yrs. ago might have been dumb enough to try, I know better now. Thanks again, Paul

Is this 308? All of my Hornady 308 brass is marked as "Match" brass & has crimped primers. I just process it same as military. It seems to be pretty good brass, though.

I just looked I have some factory 308 match with 168 gr A-MAX. The case is stamped match. This ammo # is 8096 and is not crimped. This is not Superformance....are they crimping there Superformance loads.

It is .308, I e-mailed Hornady; the response was it is" Match" in consistancy standards. It is'n necessary to reduce loads like military. You should load like std. brass, of course work your loads up. Per Hornady by way of Paul

bsc4444, your post went up while I was responding. It is Superformance,.308 Win., 165 SST, #80983 and yes these 2 boxs were crimped. Paul

I too have been using this same sort of brass, found it at my range and ended up with just over 100 pieces. To this very date its given me some great loads with my rifle. I treated it like milspec brass for the prep and worked up on the loads like any other brass. I would grab it up again if the guy who shot it would leave me more.

Mr.4444, I didn't ask, since I generally don't buy any loaded ammo. I got this with a new Sako 85 that a friend wants the bbl. broke in and some loads worked up. Looks like due to the differances in this brass he's going to have to buy more Hornady brass to match or get different brass in a larger quantity. Once I work up the load I generally load at least 50 at the time, preferably 100. Paul
