Reloading Software

would love to see a Mac version

QuickLoad runs just fine on a Mac. There are a variety of Windows simulation software platforms from which you can choose. Some are available as freeware/shareware, some you must purchase. I am using Crossover, which costs about $40-$60. It works as advertised.

The only issue I have found is that when saving/storing custom files I have created, such as new bullet files, the filenames and/or location are dictated by the emulation software, which is not the same as doing it directly with the Mac OS. So the files sometimes end up in a different location than intended, although they are still easily found within the QuickLoad folders. It is likely that the cause is my choice of an improper filename, or choice of destination folder, rather than the emulation software itself. I can always find the files when I need them, and I don't view this as being even remotely close to a "deal-breaker", especially when it's likely I'm actually at fault (I have used Macs for so long my memory of proper filenames with Windows-based systems, etc., long ago faded into oblivion ;)). I'm pretty sure I could get out of the emulation software, then find the files and either re-save them under a different name or move them to the appropriate folder using the Mac OS, if I was sufficiently motivated. I am not.

Aye, a native-Mac version of QuickLoad would be really nice. But we'll probably be waiting a very long time before that happens.

In the meantime, a virtual machine works just fine. I'm running Windows 7 under Parallels, but ran VMWare Fusion for many years. And, as David says, Oracle's VM VirtualBox works fine, too. And it's free (although the copy of Windows isn't).
