Reloading Set Up

I am relocating to Tx and am going to be staying in my 28 ' rv until I find something to buy . I am trying to figure out a set up to work with . I don't want to take my Rockchucker with me right now . I was looking at the small Rcbs press but none found in stock . Any Ideas ?

Lee Challenger Press along with the Lee Tripod Stand. Easy to move around, doesn't take up tons of space and is very sturdy (you don't need the weight shown). I've used it for my non progressive loading for a while now but I originally bought it when I lived in a small townhouse.

When my RC was back to RCBS for replacement in 1995, I purchased an RCBS Partner press so I could continue to load. Small, light and more robust compared to the small Lee stuff, it worked very well and I liked it so much that I now have it set up on the bench next to the RC for bullet seating. They can be found used on e*ay if not new on commercial sites.

.

I looked at the Partener press and seems to be good press and I will look into the Lee tripod stand . I like the idea of the arbor press but don't need to buy another set of dies , on a budget since going have to buy house !

I have the RCBs partner for my portable needs. its a good press, light weight and small. i have taken a 2x piece of wood and fasten the press to it then clamp it to the table in places iv stayed- worked good for me.

Take the Rockchucker. Give it a sturdy mount, maybe a couple of 2x4’s under it. You can’t beat it for concentricity and it’s bomb proof.

When I started reloading I lived in a 14'x52' trailer. I had an RCBS partner press bolted to an old metal 4 legged stool I aquired. I had a cheap RCBS beam scale that sat on the kitchen table, a trickler and the lee trimmer.

When done, the stool went into the closet and everything else fit into a tackle box that went under the bed.

Man, I feel really ghetto. I still bring my Lee Hand Press with me in my range box every time I go. Whenever I need to touch up a load or run a seating depth test it has always treated me right. It got me through college and a divorce. It works fine for a couple hundred rounds a month, but I wouldn't want to volume load .223 with it.

When I did step up to volume loading, I didn't buy a progressive - I still don't own one. I did buy an RCBS Partner Press and set it up about two feet further down the bench. I size and decap with the Rockchucker and seat with the Partner.

I also have a Lyman Ideal, and I use it occasionally. It is a good press, but I prefer the Partner.

Good Luck!

I have been looking at making a folding stand to put my press on . I found a RCBS reloader special press to take . I have a small tumbler and a electronic powder scale . The stool is a good idea thats kinda what I had in mind too except put some folding legs or make it where the legs slide into pockets . Thanks for the info !!

p.s. Now I need to get 2 mills and 2 lathes in and some tooling and that should do it !

Youre putting two lathes and mills in your trailer? sounds almost like my neighbor. lol-- i need to get a mill this year but am putting it in a building. i even got room for a little loading bench in there for my partner press.:)

If you are setting up on the west side of Lake Livingston, you will be just a hop, skip and a jump from Able Ammo in Huntsville. They have a huge store there just a couple of miles west of I-45. I know there are ranges there, but know nothing of their protocol.
Mike Cockroft, a member here, runs the shoots at Pine Valley GC in that same area. Contact him when you get here and maybe he can steer you in the right direction.
