reloading press thread adapter bushing - help

This is going to be a stretch, but I am having trouble finding a good 1-1/4x12 to 1x14 thread adapter for my area 419 zero press.

I have some niel jones 338-408 cheytac dies that are 1x14 threads that I want to use on my 1-1/4x12 area 419 turret head.

I picked up the adapter redding makes but I am rather unimpressed by the quality, it won’t even really screw in to the 419 turret and I don’t want to force it.

Was just curious if there were any other options out there that anyone knew of, because I haven’t had any luck in my searched besides the redding.

Thanks in advance!

Ask Area 419 if they can make you one.

This is the most likely, simple solution since they are the press manufacturers.

The Redding adapter is an example of the manufacturing mindset regarding high speed manufacturing and the 'I don't care attitude' as applied to profits. Profits first in all cases.

Usually the fit problem can be traced to a slight burr or dinged thread form. The other problem with potential is either the height of the thread pitch or a worn insert not cutting the thread form deep enough. The manufacturers want to achieve a ton of parts before having any machine and employee down time changing or fixing tooling.

Call and discuss this with Area 419 first.

:)

The Lee 91604 adapter is around $20, or less, and works well.
Edit: Completely missed that you want a 1" thread, not a 7/8". Sorry.
Either size is a simple lathe job; no idea what a machine shop would charge these days.

Unimpressed with the quality and it won’t “really” screw in are two different things.

Send it to me

You caught me in a good mood. Send it to me. I can chuck the adapter up and lightly chase both threads so they run dead true with each other, squaring the seating shoulder as well.
