Reloading information and help for 7mm RUM

I am looking for some reloading advice to help a friend out. He has a 7mm RUM and has always shot hand loads. Well, he had a close friend that used to load his rounds for him and sadly his friend passed away last year, so I have offered to help him out and load some rounds for him. He has a specific round that he likes, 140 gr Nosler partition, RL-25 powder and just factory seating specs. As with anything reloading, some specific items, such as powder, are not always available. Could someone tell me comparable powders I could use if I can’t end up gettting the RL-25? He is pretty dead set on this particular bullet, so I need to get something with really close performance for that bullet. He doesn’t get to hunt like he used to due to some very restricting health issues, and on the chance he gets to hunt, I don’t want him to have any problems with his ammo. Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

It’s hard to replace RE 25. I have tried for years. H1000 is good for big cases in matches but for low round count shooting I would suggest RE 26, in fact for that combination it might work better anyway. Or a VV powder. I think a 7 rem mag with double base powders could approach your velocity with single base powders.

Thanks guys, I think I will try the H1000. It's also about the only one I can find in stock right now. I really appreciate the info.

The only advice I would give is to get a handbook of handloading data. You probably already have one. Look up the data of your standard load and then compare that with other powders that are available to closely replicate that load. With the price of powder approx. $50 a pound you don't want to get into a crapshoot when choosing a powder.
