Reloading Data Needed... Lyman 525 + CHEDDITE 209 + Fiocchi 2 3/4 8mm Shells

Looking for some reloading information for the 525 Lyman (or a really up-to-date manual that may have it). Due to the shortages I can only get certain products, and my existing load data contains either shells that don't exist, primers that don't exist, or powders that don't exist. I have a few substitutions, but only based on he said/she said stuff from internet forums.

Ballistic products is a very good place to start. If I remember right they have manuals for loading slugs. They can test shotshell loads for a reasonable price also.

Your going to have a tough time with loading data for cheddite.... Ballistic products does probably have the most data in their reloading manual... As you know or if you don't , substitutes in shotgun can get dangerous fast... We shoot alot of skeet and trap , ALOT.... Unfortunately you are correct about shotgun reloading stuff , it's disappeared and what's still around is CRAZY expensive.... Expensive enough that I won't buy at these prices so when I run down to a certain amount I will stop for awhile..... I have already slowed way down....

That being said and of course don't listen to crap off the internet because it can get you hurt.... We shoot 1oz loads of #7.5-8-9 shot in Remington or Winchester hulls.... We use clay buster wads , either the CB100-12 or the CB8100-12 the 8100 stays tighter at longer distance....

That being said we use either Hull with either wad even though those are Winchester and Remington hulls and wads we have been using those wads in both hulls... With the cheddite primers and E3 powder and now clays powder because it's cheaper and easier to find here....

Like I said we have loaded thousands and thousands of this combo with no problems or overpressure signs the E3 is crazy clean burning and crazy fast.... There will be some say different be we treat the cheddite as slightly hotter than a Winchester 209 and back off 1 half to a full grain and start testing especially over a crono... Ok that being said.... I have been loading the E3 and my friends switched to the clays because they ran out of E3 and clays was way cheaper... This is what I load.....

Winchester double A or Remington Gun Club or STS hull with either clay buster wad listed above and 15.5-16 grains of E3 and a cheddite primer loaded on a mec size master.... I like the 16 grain charge my friend likes it a little slower so he drops to the 15.5 grain charge... We originally started at 16.5 but it seemed to hot and in some guns and was fast over a crono... This is why you need to test with a crono... With clays were just using a cheddite primers instead of a Winchester 209...

As stated above the biggest source of data for European hulls is ballistic products loading manual.... Even though the above is what I have been doing with cheddite and E3 powder for the last couple of years that doesn't mean I recommend you doing anything your not comfortable with and I don't take homemade data off the internet... Shotgun can be dangerous because of the low pressure your working with and some combos are flat out dangerous... Don't be surprised if you don't get alot of reloads from European hulls like you do from the Remington hulls....

Good luck on your search as always start low and work up... Nobody wants this crap to end more than me I have absolutely fell in love with shotgun sports over the last couple of years... Now I can't afford shot and even cheddite primers... Just FYI I have really liked the cheddite in my Beretta shotgun but some guns have a problem with them on the bottom barrel firing pin... Unless Winchester 209s come back I would have no problems loading cheddite forever , so far they have been every bit as dependable as the Winchester....

Edit.... Check out MANNY CA on you tube he has some nice shoot till fail hull testing videos.... Basically how many times can you reload a hull and he does a bunch of common hulls...

Update!

So here's my final load

Fiocchi 12ga 2.75 8mm clear hull
Fiocchi-616 (209 primer)
34 grains of longshot
Claybuster CB1138-12 12ga WAA12R
20 gauge overshot card into the wad
525 into the wad (525 slug is pure lead with the tail filled with baking powder and CA glue)
12 gauge overshot card on top of everything
roll crimp /w mec slugger

No credit to me; just stole ideas from people on the internet. 34 grains hurts like hell too.
