Reloading bench organization

It was time to clean up and organize my reloading bench! Fortunately, I found a company called InLine Fabrication on the Web. The company is located in Oregon. The Owner is Dan Clausen. He offers a system that fit my needs perfectly. I had the following devices to mount to my bench and no room to do it.

· RCBS RockChucker Reloading Press

· Hornady Lock ‘n Load Reloading Press

· Forster Case Trimmer

· Hornady Concentricity Tool

· RCBS Priming Tool

· Viper Barrel Vise

· Large Bench Vise

In the attached photos, the first one of which is labeled the “Before Photo”, I had two reloading presses hard mounted to my bench. With the system offered by InLine Fabrication (https://inlinefabrication.com), you install a quick change plate on your bench and your various tools are mounted to Adapter Plates which are stored on Docking Stations until they are needed to be used.

In the 3rd picture (After-02.jpg), you can see my Forster Case Trimmer docked on the side of my shelf unit on its Adapter Plate. In a later photo, you can see the other Adapter Docking Stations mounted to a floor standing shelf unit. It takes about a minute to change out a device on your bench. Once mounted on the bench they are solid as a rock.

My dealings with Dan at InLine Fabrication were great. I had to call a couple of times with stupid questions, before and after my initial purchase and his customer service is top notch. All the items I ordered were shipped right away and arrived packaged very well. All the plates are finished beautifully in what appears to be black Powder Coat. All the required hardware was included, and was of good quality.

In all, my expectations were exceeded! Here are the photos:

Years ago, I did essentially a similar thing using 1 1/4" thick butcher block-type cutting boards as the mounting plates, on an office desk. The cutting boards are held in place by large C-clamps, the desk cubby hole allowing two to be in place at any given time. Having your various pieces of equipment mounted in an interchangeable modular setup is a great way to go.

I am interested in that black mounting plate on the right side of the desk. What exactly is it called so I can research it, please?

Those are the Inline Fabrication "Quick Change" mounting plates: https://inlinefabrication.com/collections/quick-change-press-mounting-system . I use those too and they make them specific to each press, etc. but they all fit to the same base plate. I had been using the mounting plates before, but I just moved all my reloading to a new location and mounted the base to the center of a new bench and added a number of other Inline Fab parts, including the wall mount system, press storage mounts, Dillon toolhead mounts, etc. As BikeEffects said, Inline Fab is a great company and the owner, Dan Clausen, is a great guy to deal with. I needed some way to support an empty brass tray with my Dillon 550 and he custom made it for me so it mounts to the Quick Change base. With the Quick Change system, you loosen two thumbscrews in the front and the press lifts off. You can change presses in about 2 minutes or less. Here are some photos of the new area:

As it says in the post just below mine, the plate is known as "Flush Mount Quick Change Base Plate" as seen here: https://inlinefabrication.com/colle...ts/flush-mount-quick-change-system-base-plate . It can be mounted flush if you have access to a Router or can be surface mounted with an adapter plate.

I used the adaptor plate with mine since, when I first set it up, I couldn't route the table, and kept it with the new setup as all I had to do was drill the four holes for the plate and I was in business. Using the adaptor gives me a little more clearance for the 550 plate that included tabs for the bullet tray and finished round tray, both of which are mounted to the Inline plate.

LEE sells a kit of base and press attachments to mount on a bench.
I use them for my press, powder dispenser and bench mount primer. They include wooden mounts for items like powder dispenser and my Wilson case trimmer.

Another highly satisfied user of Inline Fabrication's Quick Change system. Six tools including an RCBS Universal Case Prep Center on plates. Two Flush Mounts, the main one on the bench and the other on a rolling cart. The presses can stay "on the bench" but the benchtop itself stays clear of presses not actually in use.

A fully equipped Hornady AP and a Classic store in about half the width of the 30" benchtop.

Another tip - I see a lot of benches pushed up against a wall. If you've got the room (it only takes another 3 feet or so), bring it out into the room so you can use all 4 sides. I've got a rockchucker, a dillon 650, a barrel vise, a mini lathe, (and soon a bench vise), along with a woodworking-type vise (which is great for holding things like case trimmers mounted on wood blocks), and plenty of room to work on a bench that's about 5'x3'. I just have to use all 4 edges.
