reloading and so many ?????

hi, im new to the scene here and have some questions: first off i plan on building a 6br with a savage target action/shilen barrel. as for reloading equipment: ill get the lapua brass from cabelas, and am not completey sure what bullets i want yet. i plan on gettting a good reload book,sierra or other)

dont want to spend a fortune on reloading, but i love accuracy!

have no need for mass production of ammo,a single press compared to a full kit??)

what dies do i need, and brand?

i am knowledgable and able to learn most anything, so in time i will undestand this, just need help getting started.

basically, from a knowledgable reloader, what will i need to get, in order to shoot a complete cartridge?

was thinking about getting the rcbs rc supreme master reload kit, but dont know what dies/seaters/all that stuff/ will interchange with each other or not. 100% open to suggestions!!!

hello gunboy, welcome to the forum.I don't think you can go wrong with forster benchrest dies. they will even hone the neck so you can get the tension you want.wilson dies also load straight ammo., but they are used in an harbour press. lots o luck _____treeman

Do this first, and get the Sierra book since you will be using their bullets. Next, get Glen Zediker's Handloading for Competition; both are available from Sinclair,ask for a catalog). When you have read this material you will have very few questions, at least at your present level of inquiry.

You will have been advised to obtain equipment based upon the proposed task and not on cost. You will also have had cast iron recommended as the appropriate material for a press, although Zediker himself makes specialized exceptions. Don't be put off by his emphasizing that his methods are for Hi-Power rather than BR; his methods are very appropriate for aspiring BR'ers. Don't buy anything other than the books until after you've educated yourself.

you seem to be headed in the right direction. the only piece I can offer is what scope do you plan on. you'll find that a decent scope is probably the single biggest expense. A 6-24 power is aa good choice but the cost is a challange. take your time and shop carefully.

A difficult question to answer..what's best for you and what you are willing to pay.
I don't like reloading kits, they contain junk ya don't need.
6 BR, the 6BRA has become popular check that out.
But contine on 6BR, I'd buy a Wilson FL bushing die, and a Forester micrometer seater. Or the complete set of Wilson dies with there Micrometer seater and cartridge gauge...arbor press at harbor freight
Press I like Forester Co-Ax... but a cheap garage sale press will work...I have given several old ones away...sold one RCBS for $ 20.
And a powder scale, old balance or newer electronic will work ... trickle it up to exact charge with a container and a kitchen spoon.
Seat primers on the press, or cheap Lee hand primer seater.
6 BR has a ton of loading data, on this site, and free on line...always work up to any powder charge stated...and the bullet You choose may not be the one your barrel likes the best... don't leave out Berger 105 or 108 gr types...and seating depth/accuracy trial for the bullet you choose
That will get you decent accuracy...if your barrel, chamber, and stock are good to go...the bullet that the barrel likes will follow. That last tiny bit of accuracy usually requires a lot more expense & experimentation...but not always.
