Reloading 300 Win Mag

Iam new to reloading the belted Magnum Cartridge, I have worked up a load using the 160 gr accubond bullet & rl22 powder getting appx 3100 fps in a Winchester Brass case. (Iam bumping the shoulder back appx .002 thousands each time i reload.) I have reloaded this brass 4 times so far.
I was wondering how many times i should expect to be able to reload the Winchester brass before the primer pockets go bad or if their are any other brass problems i should look for? This is a great site,Thanks for sharing what you know about reloading the 300 Win Mag.

There is no set number,as every lot of brass can be different.Lately,my first failure with Winchester brass has been split case necks.Quality control seems to be slipping on everything, nowadays. Lightman

The only thing I would wory about is case head seperation....You can't always readaly see them comming. If you start getting cracked necks you can try and anneal the brass. As far as primer pockets, you can see (feel them) comming a mile away. PP and neck splits are not a critical problem, safety wise.....case head seperations can be serious.

Good luck

Guy,
They make guages to check for head case seperation, but if you don't have one I usually only trim the brass two times then really check it.just above the belt you may start seeing a ring around the brass when its getting thin,if not I will trim a third time but when it is time to trim a fourth time I pitch it,chambers vary will vary I have had to pitch it in three loadings and have got fifteen+ on others.Unless you are loading really hot your primer pockets will outlast the rest of your brass. 4xforfun
is right on safety!!!! Good Luck
