Reloading .223 Rem Wylde

Ive been shooting a 24" AR Stoner .223 Rem Wylde 5r SS barrel for a little over a year now. Im shooting with a 10rd mag that allows for an OAL of 2.3" and reliable feeding. Every bullet I have tried has a case overall length to the lands of 2.35" or longer (50gr-80gr) so im not worried about jamming the bullet into the rifling. In my experience 0.010-0.030" off the lands has been the most accurate but with most of these bullets they are .060+ off the lands at 2.295. I have loaded rounds that require single feeding with excellent results but id like to be using an AR as it is intended. Should I mess with seating depth or load to 2.295" to minimize jump as much as possible? Struggling to wrap my head around this one.

One approach some people have used successfully is to modify the lip of the mag with a Dremel so that it will feed longer rounds.

Otherwise, the only good choice you really have is to shorten the COAL. Although the bullet will likely be sunk pretty far down in the case neck an they will therefore be jumping quite a bit, it is absolutely possible to tune them with seating depth adjustments. Berger has reported a method for coarse seating depth testing with VLD bullets, as a means to find a "region" where they shoot reasonably well, that can then be further tested/optimized in finer increments (link below). Your situation is really not much different than that. I believe that bullet seating depth optima are cyclic. That is, if you continue to seat a bullet farther and farther off the lands in small increments, you would see your groups open up, and then tighten up in a repeating pattern. We typically don't test such a wide range of seating depths in small increments. Nonetheless, you should be still able to optimize seating depth with your bullet of choice seated fairly deep down into the case, therefore having a large jump.

There were some mags a long time ago that were single stacked and the bullet case head were in the back rib. Thst let you load out to maybe 2.5 or so. The normal mag is double stacked which is the length limiter. In fact I don’t know where you are getting a double stack mag to let you load that long

I can go out to 2.6 or so with my 223 AICS mags but that is for a bolt gun
