Reloader 7 and the 58g V-max

There seems to be a great variance in the loading manuals for this combo. Right now I'm sitting at 28g with no problems and have loads at 28.5 and 29. in the wings. Nosler shows 31g for their 55g bullet and Hornady lists 27.4g as max for the 58g
bullet. What is closer to the truth, in general? I know all rifles are individuals and changing any one component can make a difference, but this is a huge gap for a fast burning powder.

Yes every rifle is different. We've seen max pressure reached at points 1.5 grains apart just with different barrels.

Running Quickload, for Reloader 7 and 58gr 6mm V-Max in 6BR case, it's showing 56,000 psi at 28.0 grains 2.1" OAL.

29.0 grains shows 61,800 psi, for 2.1" OAL -- pretty high, but many guys run at this level. May require FL sizing the cases each time.

29.5 grains shows 65,000 psi, for 2.1" OAL -- that's higher than we recommend, and this is for seating OFF the lands.

30.0 grains shows 68,175 psi, for 2.1" OAL. That's VERY hot and NOT advisable.

So, I'd proceed very carefully with the 58gr V-Max above 29.0 grains. Keep in mind the QuickLoad is not magical--it's only a computer simulation but it does suggest that the Nosler numbers are excessive.

They are not the same bullets and have different bearing surfaces, so what works for one might not work for the other bullet.
