Reloader 25 in a 284 win?

Has anybody tried reloader 25 in the 284? Or maybe this combination won't work? I saw load data for reloader 25 with 180 grain vld bullets in the 7mm SAUM so I'm wondering if it would work in a 284 with the same bullets. Reason I ask is I used to use rl-25 in my 338 lapua and have changed to rl-33 so I have a bunch of the 25 left over and I just finished my 284 build. Thanks in advance for any comments or advice!

If the burn rate is close to h1000 I'm not sure you could get enough in the case to be any better than 4831 or r17. You could always try it and let us know. I'd be very interested in the results.

I've no direct experience, but here's what QuickLOAD predicts with the 180gn Berger VLD at 3.100-inch COAL from a 30-inch barrel and using the program's default case capacity value.

56gn Re25 is calculated at 106.6% fill-ratio at this COAL and case capacity and is running at an estimated 54,761 psi PMax. On that basis, it appears you wouldn't be able to get enough Re25 in a standard 284W case to achieve full working pressures approaching 60,000 psi.

Modelling the combination in the rather larger .280 Rem Ackley Imp shows the powder might just work there with this bullet, but only if the barrel is throated to suit it and giving a COAL of no less than 3.500-inches. 62.5gn is calculated to still be compressed, but not ridiculously so with a fill-ratio of 103.7% and PMax is ~the 59,000 psi level for an estimated 2,962 fps MV.
