We have been following the introduction of this powder from the beginning. We've been "bugging" Alliant for info--and getting the scoop to our readers before anyone else.

We called Alliant two weeks ago and asked for the first bottles off the production line. The powder arrived this Thursday.

The same powder is on its way to wholesalers and distributors right now. Be patient.

It would seem that the first shipment of the new RL17 was only a few thousand pounds and Alliant needs to get DOT clssification before it becomes commercially available. Considerable testing must be done before Alliant can publish SAMMI approved loading data. The powder can't be commrcially sold without this data. Remember the test data shown by individuals is not SAMMI data. It might be close or even exactly right but still not suitable for commercial publication.
So we must all drool a litle and be patient.

While I cant wait to get my hands on the stuff, as long as its available before next spring, I can survive. Just need enough time to develop some good loads and get ready for the 09 season!

Alliant does have DOT approval--at least for 1-lb containers. Alliant is shipping some of this powder this week to a couple wholesale distributors. Brian at Powder Valley has put in a special request. Hopefully, within 20-30 days, the powder will start arriving.

And yes, there's only roughly 4000 pounds in the country right now.
