Reloader 16 in an 8 twist 6br

Would have thought powders in the Varget burning range would be the best suited. Isn't 16 considerably slower than that?

I have you can't get enough powder in it to get any velocity.

Terry, James above,as you probably know, is one of the best reloaders/shooters around, I am sure he is correct, I was wondering if the straight BR had enough case capacity myself. R-16 is very close to H4350 from what I have read. But, in a DASHER, BRX, or BRDX, it may be a different story. If you will look here under "Reloading Forum (all calibers)" and look for Alliant Reloader 16 by DMoran, last post was last Weds. Donovan is also an excellent shooter and reloader and tried R-16 in the Dasher. It looks like he had excellent results and shot a ladder test at 1000. He shot a 2 something inch group with one load. RL-16 was to fall between Varget and H 4350 but instead it is slower than H4350 and like James said you can't get enough in the the case. jim

I'd check your chronograph against another if I were you. Well unless you're using a 32-34" barrel I used 1 grain more powder than your published load and only got 2958 fps from a 30" barrel out of my dasher.

I've only checked with one next time I'll take out both

Also side note, side by side with same load r-16 and h4350 several have tested you get more fps out of the r-16 been tried in 6.5 and dasher I think it was 50-60fps difference

The one out makes the group 1.1-1.2 the other 4 are .5 I have simalar results last two times out shoots great have 20 loaded up to confirm just been to windy to shoot

I'm going to confirm with my other chrono next time out as well

I'm still in the very early stages of testing R16 in a Dasher LG with a 29" barrel and Lapua brass. I am able to get 3030fps but I have to trickle the powder very slow and the 105 Hybrid has to be lightly jammed since I can't seat it any deeper. I run a .135 freebore and think a .150 freebore would be better for what I'm initially seeing. This powder might be ideal to use with the new Norma brass and a chamber cut with one of Shiraz' PTG Dasher reamers.

When I get time I'll test at 550-600yds and will post my results.

Shot again with both chronographs
Average was 3000-3005 fps
29" Brux dasher with 34.4 r-16 108 Berger

Same load with 107 sierra was 10fps slower but different seating

A dasher with a full charge of RL-16 under a 105 is a pretty solid combination.

Makes me wonder why H4350 wouldn’t work also.
