Reloaded 26

There was a thread about Alliant recently stating that they will not be producing any powder for the civilian market any time in the foreseeable future. Too busy producing for military contracts.

You can’t blame Alliant they have to do what’s best for the company. Maybe we will see it again someday.

I have 5-6 pounds of it, probably will move it to someone local who uses it. I've gone over to Reloader 23 & 16 to replace it in my rigs. Thou I doubt I'll ever match it's velocity with 150's in my 270 WCF. Was getting a tick under 3200 fps with my Benchmark 5r 25" barrel using Allient's max listed load.

No, I can't. But they can't get upset when they come back and offer powders again and I don't buy them because I've already switch over to others which are more reliably available. I used to use almost exclusively Alliant but I've totally stopped working up new guns/loads with them, I have a couple years' supply for existing loads then I'll transition out of them.

Beyond unicorn dust. It was hard to find even before the current situation. Great stuff, you'd think someone would take the business opportunity to make a near duplicate.

Re26 is made for Alliant by Nitrochemie Wimmis a.g. in Switzerland and incorporates a unique patented deterrent infusion process ('EI') which no other manufacturer offers. Nitrochemie is 50% owned by the German / Swiss RUAG group, Europe's main military ammunition manufacturer, which has seen huge increases in demand in recent years, hence a general absence of propellants from this maker. We in Europe are far more heavily affected than US users as it has seen a near cessation of supply of some of our most popular powders from the Europe-only Reload Swiss range.

Alliant doesn't have a choice in this issue, other than lose-lose. It doesn't make a single pound of its rifle powder, most Re grades being bought in from Eurenco Bofors in Sweden, and a minority from Nitrochemie Wimmis in Switzerland. Both manufacturers have switched to military contracts and simply told Alliant 'No more deliveries until further notice'. Far from being better for Alliant, this is disastrous as they have no product and no sales! The sole Alliant rifle grades that aren't made in Europe are the Power Pro ball-types made by General Dynamics St. Marks in Florida, and which have continued to be available throughout the general shortage.
