Reforging Mauser Bolt

A few weeks ago I inquired about finding a reputable person to reforge my Mauser 98 bolt. A Company by the Name of Fincher's Corner in Texas was recommended (He advertises on ebay). The long and short of it, this gentleman does unbelievable work for a bargain price. He took my old bolt, forged the handle to accommodate a scope and add a low profile safety. The 80 year old bolt looks better than new. Polished to perfection. I will attempt to post Pics of "before" and "after", the difference is amazing.

Tomorrow I'm finally going to sight in a rifle that's been in the works now for over two years!

I would like to see. If you can not post pics please e mail me at ggmac5@aol.com
Thanks , Gary
And good luck on your Sight in !

The problem with heated and bent mauser bolt handles are they are now very short. I send mine to Dans40X or Jim Kobe(gundoctr).

What is the ebay link to this person?
Thanks

www.fincherscorner.com This is their site. Go through them directly instead of ebay; they give a five dollar discount for avoiding ebay expenses.

Turn around time was days, not weeks!

ya',,,, I'm not looking for the 'cheapest' price

Forging is a truly dated item. Not only does it leave the bolt short but seriously in todays technological era a TIG is underneath many good smiths benches and are cheap to run. But hey to each his own.

I had a serious distortion problem with a bolt that I forged (excessively). The buttress threaded shroud wouldn't screw in even after I chased the inside thread of the bolt with the Mauser tap.

I started TIG welding them with ER 70S-6 filler metal. It color matches if polished, blued, or phosphated.
