Reed style Coyote/Fox callers

Forum , I would appreciate your recommends for a traditional 'gob operated' coyote/fox call , I want to see if our dingos will respond, a Foxpro is a little out of my budget at the moment. And do those wounded woodpecker decoys work ?

regards
Mike.

I like the Tally ho, http://www.rhinocalls.com/Tally-Ho___Collectibles.html
It is small enough to leave in a pocket all the time.
The decoy I use looks like a small rabbit, another looks like a squirrel. It is an old FoxPro. If I don't shoot the coyote usually runs it over.

If you can find one, a Weems wild call is one of the best calls I ever used. Mine is very old and has been retired to my desk that sits by my sliding glass doors overlooking a large valley with woods.
The stories I could tell about that call!

The Song Dog works well, puppy whines sound awesome with it.
I do think the Major has used it in Australia as well with good success.Lots of good hand calls out there, part of the fun is collecting as many as you can afford and seeing how well they work.

Take a look at Crack calls.

Good stuff, and they make acrylic calls with open reeds. I've had great luck with them. If you have experience with open reed calls, they will sound wonderful to you!

A varminting buddy of mine calls in coyotes with as reed caller almost as well as I do with an electronic caller - which where we are averages about every third setup. Because I have never heard him make the same sound twice - I don't think a certain sound from it is key. The electric woodpecker detractors work very well. Once had a grey fox jumping all over it trying to kill it. I was looking elsewhere and the little sucker about destroyed it by the time I noticed.

Hi again Mike.
I just remembered there is a company down in Texas that made some really great calls. The company is called "Burnam Brothers" (not sure on spelling). If they are still in business get the one that imitates a dying woodpecker.
Why that particular call interests ALL PREDATORS I don't know, but I do know it works very well.

Good luck Mike.

Guys , all good info many thanks. Since I posted this request a few local guys have contacted me regarding calls. Not least of which is a local 'legend' that I was unaware of, made from a piece of tin plate or similar. It has two holes bored in it.
Go to YouTube and have a look at '' Field Sports Britain V's Silver Fox Whistle " I think you varmint callers will enjoy it.

I have since made a call as described , it works, at least I can get a sound from it but it does not sound exactly like the one on the youtube clip.Maybe it is a matter of just trying it out and failing that buy one !!

Changeling thanks for link I will check it out.I am wondering if the dogs here will come or run when they hear a Texas Predator Call.

regards
Mike.

Mike I'm pretty sure the cry's of pain are universal wherever in the world one may be. A new and slightly different call can work wonders. Critters do get accustomed to the same call if used to much in the same areas.;) .
