Redding Presses

Comparing the Redding Boss vs Big Boss II, is it worth the extra money? I guess the only differences are the 0.8" vs 1" ram and the spent prime tube, basically a similar frame?

I've got the big boss and it readily handles the tougher resizing easily, but I got a T-7 that does everything and can leave dies setup that you use a lot. I usually seat on the Co-Ax. It's all what you like or can afford.

I have two (2) Boss presses among my reloading tools. They are used to load at matches with each press dedicated to a particular rifle. I chose the Boss because of size and weight. The other difference besides what you mentioned is the Boss has a smaller throat---meaning it may not be suited for the bigger cartridges. If containing all the spent primers is important to you, then I would get the Boss II. IME it is the only drawback (for my needs) between the two. FWIW I did upgrade to the ball handle which may put you to the same price point (the Boss II comes with the ball)

I will try and answer your question. I moved up from a 50+ year ond RCBS RockChucker to a Redding Big Boss (not the II). I don't load cartridges that need the extra opening height, yet I enjoy it every time I use the press. I only resize on the press. I don't deprime or seat bullets.

Pro: Very smooth and lots of power. If you load long cartridges, it will handle them. I like the offset opening so moving brass in and out is more ergonomic than the RockChucker was.

Cons: it put about 1/4 of the spent primers on the floor. But I really don't like depriming on my presses since it cruds them up with all the spent primer residue. Really abrasive on your ram. So now I deprime using a Hardy hand depriming tool.

The last turret press I had was a very old Lyman, and you couldn't resize on it, since it "gave" too much to set your cartridge datum to case head accurately. I only used it for bullet seating. But I can't comment on the Redding T7.
