Redding competition shellholders or feeler gage?

I noticed the Redding shell holders http://www.redding-reloading.com/online-catalog/35-competition-shellholder-sets in varying thicknesses to control shoulder bump. I've been using feeler gages to turn the die down onto the raised shellholder - any practical difference?
Also, I noticed that a Redding 7-08 die with the expander ball removed will size a 260 Remington case down to almost the right diameter - if I turned the necks to 0.014 instead of 0.013 thickness there would probably be enough neck tension.

Louie Louie,
Redding competition shell holders are well worth the investement. You will notice an improvement in headspace variability after using them. All presses "flex" a little no matter how good. Even the rockchucker had up to 2 thou headspace difference otherwise using your approach. (slight difference in lube will cause enough resistance to flex a little. Adjusting die to Cam over on the appropriate shellholder is "much" more consistent. A simple log of which chamber uses which shell holder and you are away - absolutely brilliant and 5 star recommendation.

Gee whiz on the redding 7mm08 die restricting down to .292 instead of closer to .310 wow,

No, I was being a marroon and after testing uncut 7-08 brass the 6.5mm would still fall through. Humble pie tastes terrible.
