Redding Competition Shell Holders & Once Fired Brass

I picked up a bunch 300 RUM RP once fires a few years ago. The brass I've been using has 4 - 5 reloads under it and is developing loose primer pockets. When reloading that brass, I've used the Redding .010 shell holder to set my shoulders back .002.

My question is, can I use the same .010 shell holder and resize my once fires to get the needed shoulder set back? Would like to minimize the amount of components I'm going through to get these set up.

I would think if all the brass was fired in your gun and you're doing everything the same the results should be the same.

I have somewhere around 50 years of reloading experience, most of my dies are RCBS, a couple of Lee dies and one Redding die set I just purchased.
The Redding set was advertised as 243 Ackley Improved but it's not an Ackley Improved, instead a 243 Winchester Improved 40 degree.
Set the die up in my press per the instructions and right off the bat it was denting the shoulders of my brass.

First thought was a lube problem (to much lube) but I was using Imperial sizing wax and no more then necessary, I took the die apart cleaned it good and started sizing brass again with the same results.
Then I thought to back the die off to not bump the shoulder as much, backed the die off the shell holder .012 and the denting stopped.

So I contacted Redding customer service and spoke with a gentleman about my issue.
He requested I send in my die, shell holder and 4 pieces of fired brass so I did.
There's a difference between 243 AI 40 and 243 Improved 40.
Redding cut me a shell holder .012 and suggested the best thing I could do would be to find the correct die.
Redding did all this on their dime including return shipping when none of this was their fault.
If I ever need anymore reloading dies Redding will be first on my list.

Yes, using the .010” shellholder will limit your sizing so you won’t bump back the shoulder too much, provided you use the same sizing die as with the older brass. The only difference may be that after the first firing, the shoulder of the newer brass may not be pushed fully forward yet, so when sizing it you may not even contact the shoulder to push it back, until two or three firings.

^^^^ What he said . Check the datum length of your new ( used ) cases , and if it is shorter , process and shoot them , to re-form closer to your chamber . If they're a bit longer , you get to re-size and trim , deburr before using .

Having to use a + 010" shell holder is a reason for me to be concerned if the chamber is properly cut.
