redding bushing die 223

when I size 223 brass and I pull it out of the die the expander ball pulls harder on a few of the cases. It came with an extra piece to replace the expander ball. Should I be using that and not expanding the case mouth?

+1 on this. did you clean your brass too much? if so get some neolube #2

That's the answer. There is no need to use the expander if you are using the right bushing.

Expander balls are not acceptable unless you love extra brass trimming and neck runout. (at least in my experience with .223)

Bought supposedly once-fired .262 necked Lapua 6mm PPC brass. All was .0085 to .0095 thick at the neck. Trimmed cases to 1.500" length, used a .260 bushing to size the necks, bumped the shoulders to fit my chamber, and now some cases have a donut on the neck just where the neck meets the shoulder.
What caused the donut and how do I ger rid of it~!
