Red dot sight on an airline ?

I have a Trijicon Red Dot mounted on my Ruger Mark IV and wanted to take on my annual trip to Idaho. But will the TSA confiscate it because of the Lithium battery during the "Checked locked gun case" ( then opened at my airport for inspection ) ?

All lithium batteries have to be in your carry on technically…I’m sure some sneaks by but the regs do not allow them in the belly. They should have allowed you to remove the battery though and put it in your carry on. TSA ppl are weird though…there are very few that know the regs and every airport has their own way of doing things.

Yes,
every airport's TSA does thing differently. I have never been screened the same twice since they have started it all. TSA is very inconsistent in every aspect. I am surprised they catch what they do.

Don't stress over it.

Just my .02

In most cases batteries installed in a device are OK, but batteries by themselves are not allowed. I get around the with rechargeable batteries by installing them in the charger. I've never been hassled over it, but I try to keep a low profile - a hassle with TSA is no fun, since they are right and you are wrong despite them ignoring laws and regulations.
