Record setting question...

I know this is more of a rifle board but we do have plenty of shotgun and pistol shooters here...

My question is simple when going for a record we're shooting perfect scores be done over multiple days or does it have to be one day..????

I have decided to try for most consecutive birds hit in skeet shooting without a miss for my clubs record.... If I can use multiple days without a miss it would greatly help.... I only shoot a few games a time but haven't missed in two consecutive times... Just wondering , I tried calling NSSA but of course nobody answered...

To answer your question, your record starts when you missed your last target and continues until you miss again. No matter if the run continues across years. I think the NSSA does it by gauge, AND they must be registered targets.

I would think that if you are shooting a league at your club, someone at the club would have to keep up with the scores. Practice targets do not count. If your targets at your club are registered with the NSSA, they will have a record of your scores at your club.

But, I shot ATA Trap. What do I know? :)

Thanks everybody for your answers and assistance.... It's just for fun to see if I can do it... Hopefully my streak keeps going....

Thanks Kmart....

I think the ATA record for long run from 27 yards is 505 birds. I think it is Daro Handy.
You never wanted to have your squad follow Daro's. The puller would be a nervous wreck when you got there and you couldn't get a decent pull. I think he turned down more targets than he shot. Going to phono pulls was a great advancement.

Rsadams. The best place to find out would be from your club officials. If you are in a league, like a summer skeet league, I see no problem. I envy your problem.

I started shooting skeet when COVID started because I could get reloading supplies for shotgun... Bought a Beretta and off I went.... Fell in love with it pretty fast.... I just shoot with a group of guys twice a week for fun.. I am definitely not a pro but I am on a run of perfect games , only a few though.... Unfortunately it just makes me try harder and anyone who has done it knows it's not a cheap hobby.... I have had some $100 days... I just consider myself lucky to get to shoot with such a great group of guys and we tend to BS as much as we shoot.... Only problem is it's getting very hot here in central Texas.... Our 4h shoots start soon for the kids and let me tell ya some of them are brutal....

Just real quick.... I watched a pretty, young girl get out of a new P/U truck at a range in San Antonio once... She laid out her gun case and shells etc and I thought hmmmm.... She went and watched a few birds fly and got her shell bag and shotgun ready then walked back to her truck and got her shooting vest out..... It was red white and blue and said USA OLYMPIC TEAM.... I left because I knew she was about to make me feel real bad about the way I shoot...lol... You never know who people are....

In the 80's at the Abilene Gun Club Skeet range John Culpepper used to shoot all day on weekends with the 410 tubes in his Krieghoff 32, straight. He'd shoot station 8 from the hip. He was a AAA shooter and when he retired from the AF was hired at Atlanta I think. He was quite a guy. Shooting for fun is quite different than in competition though. for me at least. We'd all practice with the 410 because it was cheap and you can get a lot of reloads out of a hull.

KMart's comments are on the money about long runs in ATA trap. I shot on Bonillas's squad for many years. He owned the long run singles record (1975) in registered trap of 1,600 straight singles targets (until 1988) and also in the same year had the long run from the 27 yd line. I was shooting next to him (post 3) the day he set the long run record for registered trap doubles (500 straight). Dan was the best adverse weather condition trap shooter I ever saw...period. I did shoot some (PITA) events with Daro back in the day, but eventually got off the squad because of the continual controversy that surrounded him. He was the nicest guy to be around "until" the race started! I did beat him once at the Preliminary Singles race at the Golden West Grand (Sagehill club). Three us broke the 100 straight and decided to make the shoot-off the next 100 singles the following day. Daro and I made it to the last target on the next 100. He missed...I was stunned to say the least!! Just a lucky day for me. Irregardless of the controversy...Daro was a great trap shot!

Does Robert Stack, the actor still hold skeet long run? Held it for years
I could not find an up to date list of the men's long runs. The best I could find was records as of 2005.
