For $2000 or a little more you could get a Vortex gen 3 Razor which is an incredible scope.

There's a Nightforce ATACR for sale for $1400 in the classifieds.

A little more info would help.
Is this for plinking at steel or paper?
PRS?
Bench or off a bipod?
Why are you leaning towards a MIL reticle?

Nothing wrong with MK4s. I have several of the older MK4s (6-20s and 8-25x TMRs) and they perform flawlessly out to 1400 for me.

I'm actually been looking at the newer MK4 and MK5 HDs. I like the higher magnification and reticle options over the ancient MK4/TMR reticle. Plus, I'm sure the glass is also quite a bit better in the newer HD models also.

A used Nightforce Comp would be my first choice. They come up under in your price range pretty often. Second - a used Sightron 10-50 SVSSHD. I have seen a few of them sell for 1750 - 2k. Third, a used Delta Stryker 5-50. They usually run 1250-1500. Right now is a bad time to find used scopes.

May take a while, but you will have zero ground shrinkage from any of the above choices.

There is a Sightron 4.5-24 with ED glass listed in the for sale section. Good price if you do not prefer more magnification.

You didn’t say whether you were looking for first focal plane or second, but I would suggest at you check out the Trijicon Tenmile, available at Eurooptic. It fits your price range (for a new scope) and is available in either first or second focal plane and either mills or MOA. I recently purchased a first focal plane 4.5-30 x 56 and am quite impressed. It has great glass good tracking a good reticle and the lighted reticle illuminates in either red or green. I rarely use the lighted reticle but when I do the green shows up really well. I have high end Nightforce, Vortex , Sightron, Kahles and Leupold scopes and the Trijicon compares very favorably with any of them and at a decent price. My friend has the 5-50x56 second focal plane Tenmile and he does really well with it in F-Class. Sightron also makes excellent scopes in your price range and Sightron’s service is excellent.
