Recommend SN laser engraver

I have a Browning HP MK III that I received years ago that had no SN on the frame, just the barrel, the box and invoice had the SN, nothing on the frame. I used to say it's my CIA pistol, drop in a cheap after market barrel and untraceable!

I sent the pistol to Browning along with the dealer invoice and box and they restamped the SN but they messed up a number. You can see it but looks crappy. I'm going to have it parked or matte blued and the SN will fade a bit, it wasn't stamped deep so I want a laser engraver place to engrave the SN again. I've seen the SN on the frame ahead of the slide lock so that would work. I'm also putting some wrap around grips since I find the grip small for me and the SN will be visible if placed elsewhere.

So anyone have a good place to do this?

I would tell you to give Aaron at Alpha Dog Arms in Connecticut a shout. He's incredibly responsive to email.
If anyone can help, he can. He's reasonable, fast, and will do a bang up job.

Let him know "Bully" sent you along.

My tongue in cheek reply was more as to WHY?
I guess you have your reason. I would have left as is.

I don’t think I would ever remove a manufacturers serial # from a firearm and reapply because I think ATF may have something to say about this. Mabie not and I suppose they have a procedure for it but I wont be finding out. I can visualize them coming through the door just as I got the first one removed.

Not removing, making it easier to see elsewhere. Browning did a crappy job of stamping it when I sent it back. I'm still surprised it got past quality control in the first place. They never checked the frame SN and went off the SN on the barrel.

It may not be an issue given you aren't touching the manuf's serial number as it was engraved, and are "just" adding it in an additional location.
It's illegal to possess a firearm where the SN has been removed, obliterated or altered- but this isn't what you're proposing.

That said, I would contact your local BATFE field office to confirm this is OK- you're not a licensed manuf. so you may be precluded from engraving the SN on a firearm.

There's a lot of "stuff" we run into that's not clearly identified in the CFR- always best to seek guidance when it's not in black and white.

I would just leave it alone. I would not contact any LEO about anything gun related. ATF can’t even tell the difference between a handgun and a rifle. That’s just me though. It is what it is. You did what you thought was right, browning screwed it up, and I would take that as a sign to leave it alone.
