Recommend a good brake for 22-250

I run Fat bastard and a TBAC 338 can on a 300 PRC. The Brakes mitigate recoil better than a can in my experience.
BUT!, so much more pleasant with a can.
+1 for the APA brakes.

What could be better than a suppressor and the extra 16 ounces on the barrel. If it just has to be a brake several companies make suppressors with brakes.

I tried a Harrel's brake on HV barreled 22- 250 for PD's for 400-600 shooting with 60 Vmax's to reduce recoil and better see impact.

I used muffs and plugs combined for ear protection.

After about 50-75 medium paced rounds a dull headache started to occur from the concussion. It became severe enough to not want it any more at or about 100 rounds.

This is not to condemn the Harrel's Brake, I have installed several and they are very efficient at reducing recoil, however in my case I am suseptable to the concussion in extended PD firing.

I've been using Harrell's for years as well (six in the drawer now...)
Frankly, I think some of the prices I see are obscene. I get the self-timing brakes should be more $$, more machining.

Some of the brands, I guess, have people willing to spend near $200 for a chunk of simply machined steel because of their "name". More power to 'em I guess. Very little design differences of most across the board.
'Cept the JP Recoil Eliminator...ugly as all hell, but it sure does work.
Big ports= more efficiency.
Top porting helps mitigate muzzle rise in addition to the side ports for felt recoil.

I've got the JP Rifles large profile (not the recoil eliminator) and it's still stored away (where ever I put it) because the concussion was horrific. Who cares about noise when you're all muffed and plugged; but that concussion will mess with your head. You couldn't pay me to put that thing back on a rifle. And it was only on an AR with an 18" barrel. If it weren't for it selling in the $100 range I would use it to weight a crab line.

I know someone that has a 5 port MBM Beast brake on a 30 Nosler pistol. He says he wears double ear protection and the muzzle blast still hurts them.

I suspect it would be different on a rifle but I'm not sure how much different.

It's nothing but physics, and there's no free rides.
Directing the muzzle blast directly to the sides helps the shooter's ears (not so much for those down the line), but not as effective as directing it rearward for purposes of reducing felt recoil. Louder for the shooter, but more effective at reducing felt recoil.

The brakes on my rifles are for being able to get back on target before the bullet splashes.

Equal and opposite reaction and all that...

Does the Ross Schuler brakes need to be opened up like the Harrell's?
The two that i got from Ross were bored to the proper size when I received them. They work well, and with no ports on the bottom, they don't blow dirt when shooting from the ground.
