Rechambering a Winchester 1885 Low Wall (Japanese)

I was thinking I need a recent production Winchester or Browning 1885 low wall in .222 Remington. Apparently the Winchester guns in that caliber have achieved collector status but those in 22 Hornet are still out there. Could the gunsmiths in the crowd advise me if this is a bad or too expensive idea? I'm assuming re-chambering a falling block octagon barreled gun is a bigger deal than a bolt rifle.

Any recommendations on who should do the work and what it will cost would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Robin

It is not a tough job. The barrel unscrews easily and any competent gunsmith can rechamber and headspace. Check specs to make sure the 222 completely cleans up the Hornet chamber - can't believe it wouldn't. Sounds like a sweet rifle coming your way.
