Is that even necessary? Isn't the .338 shorter?I cut .5” off the barrel and rechambered to 300 win mag
Wanted to remove some of the used ( firecracked) barrelIs that even necessary? Isn't the .338 shorter?
.308 Norma Mag?Be careful, if I remember correctly, there are 2 versions. The 30-338 and the , dang brain fart time . I just had the other name and poof its gone . Anyway I had each chambering and one would not chamber in the other . Both were old sixties builds .
I always necked 338 win mag down but it really doesnt matterI am reasonably new to reloading. Is it easier to neck up a 7 or neck down a .338? Obviously 7 mag brass is more readily available.
From my stand point, it is easier to find 7mm Mag casesI am reasonably new to reloading. Is it easier to neck up a 7 or neck down a .338? Obviously 7 mag brass is more readily available.
Yes . Still have a coupleof boxes . Thank you , its been driving me bonkers.308 Norma Mag?
.308 Norma Mag is almost identical to the 30-338, Both are Fine Cartridges, You will gain nothing from chambering it to 300 Win Mag..308 Norma Mag?
Why don't you post some pics of this rifle? I wouldn't think a sleeved rifle was built for hunting? What diameter is the barrel at the muzzle? 30-338 was a very popular Long Range Benchrest cartridge a long time ago.So here is the story. This is an old sleeved remington action in a McMillan stock that I inherited from an aging buddy. I suspect he spent a lot of money having it built as a hunting rifle back in the day. I have not shot it a ton, not having a lot of bullets loaded for it since I got it only with a couple of dozen custom loaded rounds. That and it kicks like a mule. So I have limited brass, no dies and not a lot of desire to invest a lot of time and effort into an outdated cartridge. So it is a dilemma as to how to proceed. Rebarrel, reload or rechamber. I would use it for hunting maybe a some long range target shooting.
