Rechamber a 22-250 barrel

I had to take the old barrel off my Savage 12 since the throat is too long for 55gr bullets,1-12 twist). OAL would have to be like 2.550 in order to get TO the lands. Should I have it rechambered in the same, or a different cartridge, considering the 1 in 12 issue. 22BR, 22 Dasher or 22-250AI? It's just a point blank target gun, or a 300 yard varmint slayer.

I assume you have already replaced the barrel with something else. Did you replace it with another 22-250? or something different? personally I enjoy trying different cartridges and for short range i dearly love my 22BR. as for your old barrel. It is hard to tell if it is worth the expense of rechambering it. a few questions I would ask myself is, did it shoot well before, is it a factory or good custom barrel, Just how shot out is it, you may want to have someone you trust run a bore scope down it to see. is there enough shank to cut enough off to get a good chamber? Just a few things for starters to think about.

If you are thinking about rechambering a factory barrel, I'd advise against. The cost of rechambering is too high to justify on a cheap factory barrel. Get a better barrel for an additional 300 and have it chambered if you are going to work on in IMHO.
