Rechamber 6 BR to 243 win

I have a Shilen 8 twist Savage prefit. The throat and accuracy have started to deteriorate. Would it be possible to recut the chamber to 243 Win. The contour prevents cutting off the shank but very little.

I went from 6 Dasher up to 6 Creedmoor on a barrel that had launched a lot off rounds. It was pretty fire-cracked but didn't appear to be so far ahead it wouldn't clean up. Wrong!
Loads I have fired in other 6 Creed barrels (even mild ones under 3,000 FPS) were blowing out primers. In the end, we cut off the the tenon and chambered again to get it correct.
My answer to your question is you might get away with it but beware the dragon.

Not worth it ! If you can do it yourself your just using it as a practice piece . Factory barrels are not always centered , making setup a little time consuming , carbon that's deeply embedded , can dull a reamer fast and last the 1/2" gained isn't going to help much .
