Received my Minox 6x30x56mm today

"Bad" as in ....?

Post Script

I saw your other post on texaspredatorposse Ironworker. Sorry for your disappointment. I'll remember your described experience next time I go scope shopping.

I have a 3-15x50 mounted on one of my 264 Win mags, and have found it to be clearer, brighter, and more repeatable than my LEUPOLD'S. I'm sure the great SCHOTT glass has something to do with that ;)

I always kinda wondered about the 6-30X56 Minox scope. I almost bought it. Even had it in the "shopping cart" on a web site at one time, but didn't pull the trigger on it due to lack of quality reviews. Some talked of a dim picture on high power, rear ocular adjustment coming off, fuzziness on edge of sight picture. Then others said they really liked it, but that was only from a small handful of reviews I could find. Just wasn't enough reviews to convince me to buy.

So I ended up buying the Bushnell Elite Tactical 4.5-30X50mm scope. Which has an even greater magnification range than the Minox.

One thing that really surprised me about my Bushnell is how compact it is. It is very short for having such a wide magnification range. Comes with a 4" sunshade too if you want a more tactical look or if shooting in bright conditions.
To check adjustment range I ran the elevation knob all the way down then counted the MOA of adjustment while turning it all the way up. I counted 81 MOA of adjustment which is pretty impressive for that magnification range. Very clear optics on all powers. Eyebox gets a little fussy on 30X and image quality gets a little worse, but absolutely nothing to complain about and still very clear. Just not a "stunning" picture like on the lower powers. I attribute the very slight 30X image quality problem to the light gathering ability of the 50mm objective. Knobs are very nice, clicks are not quite as solid as a NF or Mark 4, but pretty close and more than plenty solid enough. Overall a very nice scope for the money.

I got that Bushnell Elite 4.5-30X50 Tactical scope on ebay for about $735 with free shipping. Best deal I could find anywhere on it. Really think it's worth the money too.

"Bad" as in ....? Felt like they put one of their 1"models in a 30mm tube to say they had a 30mm offering. Very small field of view image. Compared to a 12 year old B&L elite 4200 and that scope is a 1" and it blew the minox away. The turrets felt barely doable and poor adjustment range for a 30mm scope . No not for me,its on its way back I intend to exchange it for Zeiss new 5x25x50MM HD4. Pay once cry once .

Could it be you received a bad scope?
If you look at the B&L specs, (I am reading the specs on mine) the MINOX has it beat in every category. 40 min of travel vs 30 for the B&L. Field of view is, as all high power scopes, very small. The MINOX again has the advantage there also. The exit pupil on the B&L is one of the smallest on the market at 1.16MM.

That's very interesting . I would sight on an object with each scope on same power and the B&L had a bigger picture . At 115 yds I was able to read the license plate at 8x on the BL and 15x the Minox. I just now testing a couple other scopes My Weaver Tactical 3x15x50 I read them on 6x my Bushnell elite 6500 2.5x16x50mm 8X . When I first took that Minox out of the box hey this is nice until I started comparing sighting on roof top shingles and seeing this isn't any thing special. But the 4" eye relief was too much and at least for my eyes I felt like I was looking down a tunnel. So could it of been a bad scope ? Well it was to me.
