rebore barrel

Hi gents,
I have a Ruger 77 magnum in .458 lott.
Dose anyone know a company / gunsmith that can re-bore the barrel to another caliber?

Thanks,

Frank

My recommendation is to replace the barrel with a new barrel in the caliber that you want rather than reboring your existing barrel. The end result will most likely be much better and the cost will most likely be about the same. There are smiths out there that can bore out the existing barrel and then insert a sleeve in the desired caliber. The chamber could be an issue depending on the chamber size of your new cartridge. Sleeving old barrels is most commonly done to restore antique firearms that have damaged bores to shooting status.

As a matter of curiosity, what caliber/cartridge do you want to change to?

Jim Dubell- Delta Gun Shop-Colville Wa- ( 509) 684-5855) does a excellent job of reboring barrels..

I agree Wayne. I wonder if he means rechamber to another cartridge or rebore to a larger bore size. Jim Dubell is the best, but I don't think we have enough info from the OP.

JS,
I think the only reason, for me anyway, to drill and install a liner is not cost effective. Now, that is if it is not an expensive custom thing.

The only reason that I could ever possibly see any benefit to sleeving a barrel is what Cort said in restoring an antique. I have no idea what it costs, but it can't be cheaper than installing a new barrel, can it? Even if it is, the cost difference can't possibly outweigh the "you get what you pay for" factor.
But, like I said, I have no experience with this practice. I've also never driven a Yugo either. So, there ya have it.

Jim and Allen are very well equipped and have a lot of knowledge about their trade.
