Rebating rims

Do any of you guys rebate rims to work with the ppc boltface? What is the best way to go about it? I have a big lathe and seems like a lot of work to indicate in every single piece of brass to turn rims.

One might use the Harrell's case holder with live center to do this.. ???? or chuck on the neck / mandrel and live center?

I shoot my 30BR on a PPC boltface drop port Viper. I ground a HSS tool that is the width of the extractor groove of the 30BR case. I use this to make 3 progressively "deeper" cuts of the rim moving towards the chuck to keep the case stuck into the Wilson trimmer case holder [ deeper means towards the center ]. The 3rd cut gets me to the correct dia. After the 3 cuts I plunge the extractor groove to the correct depth by going to the number on the dial I determined previously.

So, I go cut - dial, cut -dial , cut, forward to extractor groove, tap the case with a small hammer to make sure it's still tight into the case holder, then plunge to number. You want to barely touch the front face of the rim. I then take a small, fine metal file and put a tiny radius on the back outer edge of the rim to help the extractor and also a tiny tiny touch on the front edge of the rim to make sure there are no burrs.

I have a 1/4" or so brass rod centered by the spider and spanning the chuck spindle and in the mouth of the case that I use to knock the case out of the holder.

It seems to me that the one pass custom made cutter I have seen pics of would have a tendency to push the case out of the holder but they obviously work.

Note, I don't touch the large bevel just in front of the extractor groove.
