Rebarrel...

This question is for experienced benchrest shooters especially in the southeast. I need a new barrel for my 6PPC.
Should I get a 1/14' twist or change to a 1/13.5' twist.
I'll be using Bart's Ultra's 68gr bullets.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. gpoldblue

I would be thinking about a gain twist, but I've been wrong before, once.

I have had better luck with the 1 in 14' versions. Muzzle velocity should be over 3150 to 3250. Higher is better for the 14 twist.

I shoot smaller groups at 100 with the 14 twist. Interestingly, groups are more similar at 200 and 300? From and engineering standpoint if you rotate the bullet faster it can impart more variation. Some call this 'going to sleep'. If your shooting 100 and 200 with 65 to 68gr match bullets I would use the 14.

I don't mean to jump in on any ones question but I read this and a question came to mind If you push the bullet 3250fps out of a 1-14 twist to stabilize it. wouldn't it be easier on the equipment to put in a faster twist and lower the velocity and pressure for close to the same result.I'm not a expert, just thinking in print trying to learn.
