Rebarrel 44mag for Sillouette?

I have my late father's Super Blackhawk in .44 mag with a 5 1/2 barrel. I rarely shoot it as it is a bear. I attended a match last year and shot it with a bolt .22, but I saw the guys with there pistols and talked to them a little. It occurred to me that I could have my dad's re barreled and use it for that. If so, what would be the optimum length to take advantage of the cartridge? I am thinking 10 and 5/8 or whatever Ruger has in that range. Thank you.

The maximum length barrel allowed in the class you are shooting IE: Production Revolver.

Yes we have a local club that hosts them one a month. I went to check it out during the last event of the year. I didn't plan to shoot, but the guys told be to jump on the line with my Marlin 981T .22. It was very fun. There were only about 5 guys that had been doing it together forever using T/C with rifle cartridge pistols etc. I am hoping to do it again, and may just fit my dad's revolver for it. It was super fun!

One of my local clubs is just starting a rimfire silhouette match series. I also have another semi-local club that still does monthly IHMSA matches. I want to take my S&W 57 with 8-3/8" barrel to that. Should be fun!

Yes. I shoot IDPA there too but it’s been a while.
