Rear sight screw on Winchester 1917 Enfield

Hello, I’m new here and would appreciate any help I could get with removing the rear sight on my 1917. The screw is held on by a small split nut. I bought a set of spanner bits but they seem to thick for the grooves. Is there some other tool for these? 5D42D0B6-E9DF-4FA1-8E50-9D20A3ED50CE.jpeg

Just a guess if I was facing this:
Flat screwdriver, file a notch just to clear the bolt.
There’s probably a screwdriver made just for this job but where do you get it?
Also no idea how tight this is so plenty of down force
Like I said a guess

I'll fwd this to 'Just Say Moe' since he liked it and may have the need. Maybe the OP didn't care.

Don't know your size needed but this is a MAC socket
If it fits it's perfect. Aside from it's intended use I'll add it's the perfect fit for an UZI front sight. If I just joined a site and got a reply to a question I'd at least say thanks, no matter how nuts the answer was.

Pretty good advice. Soak it good with Kroil or equivalent. If really stubborn, gently use a small punch and tap the slot the direction to loosen. I said gently, you don't want to bugger it up.

I just did same job on my 1917 ....a set of "tamper proof" drivers, $10 ish at the big box store, found one that fit perfectly.
Pm me I have a spare I can send ya if ya want
