Yes. Some competitors have their rifle rest on the bottom of the bag, and others have the rifle rest on the ears themselves. Either way can win. It's a "some like Ford, some like Chevy, some like Toyota..." thing.

In SR BR I prefer the butt of the stock contact only the ears. This applies whether I am shooting Hunter Class (more conventional stock with pistol grip, or an Adamowicz ( Edge, Klub) design.

I would think it would also depend on the front rest that is used.
If it's a joystick rest in the front, I would put my stock on the rear bag's body instead on the ears. I only want the joystick that controls the elevation (etc) and it must be as stable as possible at rear (=on the bag body). That is also why there are some designs on rear bags, with a non-joystick rest the user may have benefit to put the stock on a squeezable rear bag and on the ears.

With an adjustable front, I prefer the buttstock to ride on the bag, not float on the ears.
