Now I believe the correct orientation is match the rear bags taper to the stock taper.
Now while messing with my new rear bag I noticed I had the orientation flipped. With it flipped I noticed that when I tracked the gun forward and back while looking through the scope my elevation changed very little on the target. Once I flipped the bag back to the “correct” way and tracked the gun my elevation change was more significant.
So my question, is it a problem that I like how the elevation change is smaller with bag in the opposite direction vs matching tapers?
