Rear Bag Fit?

Should the butt stock ride right on top of the stitches of the main bag or be a little up on the ears? My stock is has a 5/8" flat bottom. Thanks for any input.

Mine rides on the stitches just barely...Its a trial and error thing.
All rifles behave a little differently. You want it to recoil smooth and repeatable..
I find Protector Bags work well for my 284 Shehane in a Kestros stock.
Bumble bee flat top DR model.

If I could trouble you just a little more—how wide between your ears and are they slick, cordura, or leather? Thanks much for your help

My long range stocks (flat bottom) ride on the stitches and short range stocks (Scarbrough) ride on the ears. I often use my short range style stocks at long range.

What rear bag have you found that works best with the Scarbrough stocks?

My Protector bag is 1/2 between the ears and flat bottom stock is 1/2
I use the slick ear material but im not sure other stuff may work as well or better.
Can't try them all and what I have works for my application.
