Rear Bag adjustable riser?

I am looking for an adjustable way to raise or lower the rear bag (std.Protector foot print).
Some of the places I shoot at have different bench height and I have to bend over to far and tilt my neck back. At my age (78) that becomes difficult, so would like to able to adjust the rear bag up or down, mostly up.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks,
Gary.

Some Ranges have restrictions on risers depending on class! Williamsport just changed some of ours in L.G. So know you can say use a doughnut along with say a piece of wood to get you up high enough. Just can't use abrasives or nails to hold it in place. Just can't be mechanical. H.G. anything goes.

Thanks for that Joe. Have been using the rubber donut and 3/4" wood with non slip backing.
But was looking for something adjustable, legal or not. Must of my shoots nowadays are just club shoots so legality is not a problem.

If I may, I have what I think is a better solution, an adjustable stool. Short range benchrest competitors who travel to different ranges are faced with the same situation that you have related. The way that they deal with it is to use stools that are adjustable for height. The most commonly used are so called drummers thrones. Depending on how much you weigh, you may be able to get by with a rather inexpensive one. Those of us with a greater accumulation of lbs. should spend more to get the sturdiest. In the premium column are those made by Roc-n-Sok. There are others of equal quality. Even shower seats can be used. Make sure that you consider the range of adjustment before buying.

Thanks for reply Boyd. I have an adjustable stool and yes it helps on occasion, but not all the time.
With all of the adjustments on the front rest, why is there not an adjustable rear rest?

If youre not worried about legality get some camper leveling blocks. They look like yellow legos. Come with a storage bag and all.

Gary,
I have the same problem and this is how I dealt with it (see below)

I did almost the same thing as Joe R. I made 3 pcs. using 3/4" pine. One using one piece of wood. Another using 2 pcs. and the 3rd using 3 pcs. Little bit of wood glue and some spray can paint. They look OK and usually a combo of the 3 will get me at the right height.

Its all about legality or not. If you use an edgewood bag he will make you some legal spacers. Or you can get a skips donut. Theyre a good riser on any type bag ive found. I just get edgewood to make mine the right height but that doesnt help your adjustability factor

Plywood is your friend. Just cut a few and use wood pegs you can get at a hardwar store to keep them from slipping apart as you add layers.

Use rubber shelf liner on top and under the wood blocks to help keep bag from sliding around. You can buy from Wal-Mart on rolls and cut to size. Matt

Thanks Joe,
I have cut some plywood pieces and have glued non slip backing to them.
Great idea thanks.

Gary.

South Dakota homeowners deal with hail damage to their roofs. One solution is shingles made from recycled tires. They're 3/4" thick and do not slide on ANY benchtop… or each other. Cut to fit/shape using a bandsaw (or jigsaw).

On the subject of hard rubber, years back when I was doing more writing about benchrest related products, I needed a bag spacer for a particular application, and after a friend had told me about making one out of some of some material designed to resole work boots, I decided to visit a local industrial rubber dealer, and found a 1" thick scrap of 90 durometer neoprene that a friend helped me cut to fit the outline of my loaf shaped rear bag. It was the perfect material for the task. Subsequently I recommended it to Dave Dohrman and he brought out a line of bag spacers of the same material. After his death the line was continued under other ownership under the name of Benchrite and for some time the spacers continued to be available under the new name. Just now, I went to the website and could not find them, so they may have been discontinued, in which case you will have to make your own like I did.

Skip Otto was using that in the early 1980s, prior to his manufacturing of the donut.
